Crystal Leigh Shearin is a licensed and certified pediatric speech-language pathologist. She is also a Certified Autism Specialist, Board Certified Telepractice Specialist, and a Board Certified Cognitive Specialist. Crystal is a clinical instructor at the ECU Speech-Language and Hearing Clinic and is also the speech-language pathologist for the ECU Community School. She has been with the Department of Communication Sciences and Disorders at ECU since 2013. In 2016, her interest in literacy led to the founding of The Pirate PLAY Group (Promoting Literacy Among Youth), which is an early intervention pre-literacy program offered to local preschools and kindergartens. Prior to joining the faculty at ECU, Crystal gained clinical experience in private practices, early intervention facilities, public schools, and skilled nursing facilities.
