Dr. Marianna Walker is Professor Emerita in the Department of Communication Sciences and Disorders (CSDI), College of Allied Health Sciences, East Carolina University. Prior to her Phased Retirement status, she was a tenured faculty member (Associate Professor) in the Department of CSDI and served as the Barbara W. Bremer Distinguished Scholar in Language Learning and Literacy Disorders.
She is also the Director of the Reading and Language Science lab which focuses on research in language and literacy. She is a nationally certified and NC licensed speech-language pathologist since 1983. Dr. Walker is a Fellow of the American Speech Language and Hearing Association (ASHA, 2008). She previously served as the Chair and a member of the North Carolina Board of Examiners for Speech and Language Pathologists and Audiologists from 2004 to 2011. At the university level, Dr. Walker was Chair of the ECU Faculty from 2009 to 2012 and Dean of the Honors College from 2013-2015.
